TA Instruments Acquires Calorimetry Sciences Corporation

TA Instruments, (New Castle, DE) announces the acquisition of Calorimetry Sciences Corporation, “CSC” (Lindon, UT), a manufacturer of microcalorimeters for high performance heat flow and heat capacity measurements primarily used in the life-sciences industry.

This acquisition adds two systems which complement TA Instruments’ existing TAM microcalorimeter product line. The Nano-ITC is an isothermal titration calorimeter designed to measure protein-ligand binding and the interaction of biological materials. The Nano-DSC is an ultra-sensitive scanning calorimeter used to measure the stability of proteins and other macromolecules in dilute solutions, and is commonly used in pharmaceutical development processes.

The integration of CSC further strengthens TA Instruments’ industry-leading position in the fields of thermal analysis, calorimetry and rheology, while expanding TA Instruments’ exposure to the rapidly-growing life-sciences market.
