The TA Instruments Nano DSC is specifically designed to characterize the stability of a dilute sample as a function of temperature. It is a fully automated instrument, typically requiring less than one hour per sample and only nanomoles of biological material. The Nano DSC obtains data with less sample than competitive designs because of low noise (±15 nanowatts) and precise baseline repeatability. Solid-state
thermoelectric elements are used to precisely control temperature, and a high pressure piston driven by a computer-controlled precision linear actuator maintains constant or controlled variable pressure in the cell. The available capillary design of the measuring cell minimizes protein aggregation and precipitation, resulting in higher quality thermal data.
